Dick Sharod is the Africa & Middle East (AME) Regional Director for Stratus Technologies, the global leader in availability solutions. Hailing from the United Kingdom, Sharod moved to South Africa in 2000 to establish a local point of presence for Stratus.
22 of Sharod's 27 years in the ICT sector have been dedicated to working for Stratus, focusing on delivering 100% availability solutions to the most demanding and challenging industries in the world – from emergency services to banking and telecommunications. The last ten years have been committed to growing Stratus' presence in Africa, building a dedicated and skilled local team, and partnering with innovative and talented companies across the continent.
Sharod started his career as a software engineer, and has had technical roles in customer service, and technical pre-sales support. For four years he worked as a technical and business consultant within Europe, Middle East and Africa, and traveled the region helping customers design and implement availability focused business solutions. He has focused his interest in the Payments industry, and has worked with some of the largest ATM and POS operators in the continent.
Sharod is an avid technologist and continues to follow the latest developments within the industry, and keep abreast of drivers such as virtualisation.
As an individual who is passionate about Africa, Sharod travels the continent promoting availability, driving sales, and identifying opportunities to grow the Stratus franchise business through carefully selected partners.
Sharod has recently taken up the challenge of establishing a presence for Stratus in the Middle East. He is opening up an office in Dubai, in the heart of the UAE, as a hub, to support the existing partners and customers.
