To coincide with the release-to-manufacturing milestone of Microsoft Office 2010, Intervate, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and leading provider of SharePoint based solutions, has announced the launch of the first SharePoint 2010 website developed in South Africa.

Intervate has redeveloped their company’s website, www.intervate.com using SharePoint 2010, showcasing the product’s latest features and signaling Intervate's confidence in the most recent release of Microsoft’s most successful enterprise product.

Says Mpumi Nhlapo, Sales and Marketing Director at Intervate, “We’re thrilled to have played a role in the SharePoint success story and to add another first to our SharePoint track record. SharePoint has been Microsoft’s fastest growing product and since its launch, 17,000 clients worldwide have bought over 100 million SharePoint licenses. Intervate has been at the forefront of these developments as a SharePoint partner since Microsoft first announced the product in 2000.” To date, Intervate has rolled out solutions based on previous versions of SharePoint to more than 200 clients in South Africa and internationally.

Intervate has already received the commitment of clients representing over an estimated 10,000 seats for the deployment of SharePoint 2010 as soon as it is released.

“It’s remarkable to see such strong interest in a product before it has even been released. Our clients are impressed by SharePoint 2010’s capacity to support the current shift in the way that businesses collaborate,” says Nhlapo. “SharePoint 2010 adds many new capabilities to the previous version of the product, including business intelligence and social networking tools that make it easier for people to connect with colleagues, collaborate in groups and share knowledge and ideas.”

Information Worker Sales Lead at Microsoft South Africa, Rory Headon-Weeks comments, “SharePoint 2010 introduces many significant improvements and new areas of capability. Web Content Management is such an area and as illustrated by the Intervate.com website, SharePoint is now truly a world class WCM platform capable of competing with best-of-breed stand alone vendors.”

Susan Reid, Web Content Management Solution Specialist at Intervate agrees. “The new platform not only addresses shortcomings of the past, but introduces major new features and capabilities. The new ribbon toolbar significantly simplifies inline editing of content and makes creating new pages and sites more intuitive, while the new content organiser and improved content query web part make content administration tasks much simpler by automatically locating and displaying related information. Additionally, the point-and-click search refinement panel based on meta data makes finding information on large sites a pleasure.”

Intervate has packaged a set of migration offerings for customers that would like to move from an earlier version of SharePoint or competing product to SharePoint 2010. These offerings will help customers to get up-and-running on SharePoint 2010 in the quickest possible timeframe so that they can quickly enjoy the added benefits. Businesses that are interested in making the move to SharePoint 2010 are invited to contact Intervate for a demonstration of the product.
