JOHANNESBURG, South Africa. – April 6, 2009 – Symantec Corp. today announced it expanded its leadership in the overall storage software market according to the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Storage Software Tracker, March 2009, which also reported 15.1 percent year-over-year revenue growth in that market. This growth outpaces both the market and all competitors. The IDC results indicate that while other vendors either lost market share or made only a slight gain in 2008, Symantec captured 18.2 percent of the overall storage software market, up significantly from 2007.

In addition, Symantec ranked second in archiving software and has been steadily gaining market share from 2006 through 2008 while market share of leading archiving vendors decreased over the same period.
